![]() A short history
We are a young 3D animation company from the northern regions of The Netherlands. Groningen city, to be precise. We produce 3D character animations, be it for our own (rather ambituous) projects or for third parties.
In the first place, Happy Ship was brought to life as a vehicle to produce Kosmotroniks with, a world based on the machine designs of Harry Arling. But working on this big project (expect more on this soon) we decided that we could just as well put our joint effort into other productions as well. Quite soon after this decision, there came the Joust, an excellent try-out for our collaboration, and after successful completion of this project, other jobs and projects began to pop out of the soil spontaneously. Since then, we've been busy all the time, doing some special effects and character devellopment for films, pop culture, websites, games, and, of course, for our own projects. With the Worlds of Kosmotroniks as our primal urge it won't be too difficult to guess what we're currently working on in our spare time :). Who are we
Happy Ship vof. was originally founded by Harry Arling, Naam and Martin Venema. We all come from quite distinct backgrounds. Harry is famous both as a sculpting artist and a virtuoso drummer. His real-life Kosmotroniks models find quite an enthousiastic audience. Naam began as a painter and comics artist, but found animation to be an even more ideal medium for his whacky ideas. With his efforts in the field of character animation he has received a lot of attention. Martin has a calculator, which works quite well. He has an original knowledge base, having organized an experimental array of successful artistic productions.
On top of this, we have a solid network of other artists, all specialists in their own field. All these talents combined enables us to take up almost any challenge we encounter (at least, we never turned one down yet).
